It took some doing, but it was worth it.
I call it the Cherry Gold Strat
I’ll let the video explain everything, but to summarize, I had a cheap Strat body from Ebay, which I decided to convert to a hardtail with twin humbuckers and the illusion of no pickguard.
A successful Parts build! On a budget, as usual, I selected parts and components that I felt would give me good performance for price. Affordable, but fully-functional was the aim.
Specs:
- 2 x Vanson ’57 Alnico II PAF-style humbuckers.
- Master volume and tone (both 500k log pots) – 0.02F tone cap.
- 3-way toggle, selector switch
- Colour-matched, clear pickguard (painted from underside).
- Top-loading hardtail bridge.
- Basswood body.
- Maple neck with maple fingerboard and satin finish.
- Squier “Kluson” style tuners with conversion bushings for 10mm holes.
- Finish: Cherry gold with white competition stripes.
